Biographical Note
Abraham Meyer Krasnoff arrived in Bishopville in the 1890s, opened a general store, and in 1902 married Jennie Levinson. The Krasnoffs had three sons: Leo (1903-1969), Aaron (1905-1923), and Sollie (1907-2005). At one point all three-Meyer, Sollie, and Leo-operated shops in downtown Bishopville. After graduating from high school, Sollie opened a department store with dry goods given to him by his father. During World War II, Sollie fought in the D-day invasion of Normandy, France. Returning home, he married Mildred Brill (1914-1998) and fathered two daughters, Jennie (1947- ) and Dixie (1952-1993). Leo Krasnoff married Ann Pittle (1907-1991) and operated several stores, including a liquor shop, in downtown Bishopville.

Images of the Krasnoff family include portraits of Jennie Krasnoff, Sollie Krasnoff, and Leo Krasnoff; an additional portrait of Sollie Krasnoff in World War II uniform; a group photograph of the Krasnoff family on the porch of their Lee Street home circa 1917; a portrait of Fanny Krasnoff and her sister-in-law Jennie Krasnoff; a photograph of the Krasnoff brothers, Aaron, Leo, and Sollie; photographs of Sollie and Leo with their wives Mildred and Ann; an additional photograph of Sollie and Leo with their mother Jennie; and a photograph of Sollie's daughter, Jennie Krasnoff. Also included is a 7x9 inch 1973 calendar from the Sollie Krasnoff Department Store.
