Biographical Note

Charles Fram (1902-2001) was born in Union, South Carolina, in 1902, to Solomon Fram and Katie Fram. In 1919 he enrolled in the Georgia Institute of Technology but after a year transferred to Worcester Poly-Tech in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 1921 Fram transferred to the University of South Carolina, graduating three years later with a business degree. After graduation he moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and worked for the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Two years later he joined the Abernethy Publishing Company, a business paper-publishing house in Atlanta, Georgia. During World War II Fram served in northern India as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1990 after working for 62 years in the publishing business.

    Photographs, 1915-circa 1947

    Images of Fram in Student Army Training Corps uniform; in his office at Abernathy Publishing circa the 1930s; with his wife, Grace Fram; and several images of Fram in military uniform during World War II. Also included is an image of his mother Katie Fram with his nephew Arnold Fram.
